Emilio Marcos Palma is cradled by his father after becoming the first baby born in the Antarctic on January 7, 1978, securing his entry into the Guinness Book of Records. Born in Base Esperanza, an Argentine army base in Hope Bay, his delivery was asssured by his father, army physician Captain Jorge Emilio Palma.
